The All-Terrain Vehicle Task Force met on February 16 at the William H. Rogers Legislature Building in Hauppauge for the first of eight meetings the county will hold to discuss the pros and cons of an ATV park for the sports enthusiasts.
Legislator Jay Schneiderman (R-Sag Harbor) feels that the creation of an ATV Park, along with stricter law enforcement, might be the solution to the problem of illegal riding. “We need to know if this [park] will contribute to a decrease in illegal use. We might have to do two things at once; create the ATV Park and, at the same time, step up enforcement, step up penalties on the illegal side.”
