Square Bra vs. the Clock

The unusual Westhampton beach house, affectionately called the Square Bra, has bought a little time while the Town of Southampton processes the demolition and building permits. Reported earlier to be demolish May 15, on Curbed, the glass-and-cedar beach house designed by architect Andrew Michael Geller, is still standing, but for how long?

“We may have also found a way to reduce the costs.” said Jake Gorst, Geller’s grandson, “There is still a ways to go with the funding, but we are considering a low interest loan for the remainder.”

Jake Gorst said, “It now looks like whatever happens will happen the third week of June.”

There has been an outpouring of financial support for the beach house named one of the top ten houses of the Hamptons by The New York Observer, but time is the biggest obstacle.

Can you hear me Starbucks, Barnes & Noble et al?
